The more you know...
By the time we move into our new Sacred Space, we will have embarqued on a $4 million project including the purchase and engineering of the land and the renovation and building of our worhsip space.
The Feasibility Study reults are in. You can now read the report written after interviewing many from our church.
There are two houses on the property. In order to move forward both houses have to be removed. Fortunately, Habitat for Humanity has a wrecking crew whose sole purpose is to salvage items they can sell in their Home Center. This reduces the amount of waste in our landfill and will allow doors, windows, cabinets, etc. to continue to be used in the homes of other people.
One of the goals of the design of our new sacred space is to bring us closer together as community. Our seating arrangement can do this physically, visually and ultimately spiritually.
We sold our land on UTSA Boulevard for enough to buy new land and get a good start on the development of the land and construction of a new sacred space. You will have the opportunity to contribute financially to help us fully live in all that God has in store for us in our new Sacred Space.
The property that St. Michael's worshipped in on Culebra had a considerable amout of debt. When that property sold, the proceeds of that sale (after all debts are settled) totalled an additional $65,000 toward our Sacred Space Fund.

History of a Move to a New Sacred Space
On Thursday, September 17th, 2009, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, San Antonio, sold its buildings and land in pursuit of a 30 year summons to build a sacred space to worship, serve, fellowship, and pray. Many of the dedicated church members made this move possible.
The congregation began worshipping at Pedrotti's Northwind Ranch in Helotes, TX, on Sunday, September 20, 2009. This is the place where all functions of the church moved - from choir practice, to church offices, to the newly named "Crock-Pot-Lucks" after church on Sundays.
The Property Team, commissioned through the power of the Spirit and by the congregation on Sunday, November 15, 2009, then toured and prayed about many properties. After a time it became hat one property on Bandera Road and near 1604 was the place that God was asking us to set apart to be a Holy place for all of his children to gather.
More prayers, visits and conversations followed this decision until the Property Team put a request into the Bishop's Committee of Holy Spirit to offer a contract on this property on Bandera Road. The Bishop's Committee fully supported this request and a contract, with a 120 day feasibility period, was offered and accepted.
After a period of continued study, prayer, and conversation, the Bishop's Committee, at the March 2010 meeting unanimously reaffirmed their initial request to the Bishop to pursue a contract and purchase this property on Bandera.
On Monday, April 12, 2010, the contract was executed and the land purchased. We will continue to worship at Pedrotti's until the new sacred space is built.
To celebrate the beginning of a 30 year hope come to life, the congregation gathered on this new land for the first time on Sunday, April 18th, 2010, when we travelled from Pedrotti's to the new property to commission the Sacred Space Team and conclude the service.
On September 12, 2010, the congregation of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, formerly on Culebra Road, joined together in Common Mission with the Church of the Holy Spirit. This joining in common mission brought together the spiritual resources of both congregations to further solidify who we are as one of God’s churches in the world.
On February 11, 2012, we joined together to celebrate the final step in our journey as we break ground on this Sacred Space for all of God’s people to be fed and sent out into the world restoring all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.
Construction began on the property on August 6, 2012, and was noted by a celebration at Pericos, just down the street for our property.
The anticipated move-in date is mid August 2013.
