Vicar (Priest) Email Jason Phone extension 11 The Rev. Jason T. Roberts, Vicar of the Church of the Holy Spirit, began on September 16, 2009. He comes to Holy Spirit after serving for 5 1/2 years as the Assistant turned Associate to the Rector for Service and Evangelism in Richmond, Virginia, at Grace and Holy Trinity Church. He holds degrees from James Madison University, Virginia Theological Seminary, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Jason married his wife, Susannah, in January of 2009. She is a surgery resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. Emma Katherine, their daughter, was brought out into the world on April 7, 2010, which also happens to be the same birthday of Jason! And their second child, a son, is due in late January 2014! Jason and Susannah also share in the joy of "lovin' on" their chocolate lab, Sam, and two cats. In his spare time, Jason enjoys most anything having to do with a Frisbee.

Assistant Vicar for Pastoral Care Email Kelly Extension 12 The Rev. Kelly Conkling is a cradle Episcopalian raised in the Diocese of West Texas in George West. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Sam Houston State University in 1977 and her Master of Science in Art from Texas A&M Kingsville in 1990. After teaching art in public school and junior college for ten years, she moved to Austin in 1994 to begin her studies at the Seminary of the Southwest. Since her Ordination in 1997, Kelly has served as Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Abilene, Associate Rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, San Antonio, and Assistant Rector of Emmanual Episcopal Church, San Angelo. Over the last four years she served as Interim Rector for two Parishes and continues to work with the Bishop's Office in the Diocese of Northwest Texas. Kelly is married to the Rev. Allan Conkling and they share four daughters and seven grandsons. They have recently returned to this Diocese and live in Bandera where Allan serves as Rector of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. As the Part-time Assistant Vicar for Pastoral Care, Kelly works, on average, 10 hours weekly, including two Sundays per month. She works directly with several existing pastoral care ministries, as time permits, as well as develop an overall vision for pastoral care at the Church of the Holy Spirit.

Music Minister Extension 13
MARK DANIEL MERRITT joined the Holy Spirit staff in October of 2012. He is an ASCAP composer and arranger with
various published works, as well as a conductor and choral clinician. Merritt
is a life-long member of the American Choral Directors Association. The
recipient of numerous commissions, Merritt received a major commission in 2007
funded by the Kentucky Arts Council and the Catlettsburg Kentucky Leadership
Club, to compose the score to the musical play River Dreams, which had
its world premiere in July and August of that year in Ashland, KY. Merritt’s
music, which continues to captivate listeners with its freshness and ingenuity,
can be heard in concert halls, in schools and in worship services in churches
throughout the United States. From 2002 to 2012, Merritt was Associate Director
and then Director of VOCE Choral Ensemble, a premiere choral group he helped to
found. VOCE performed under Merritt's direction at the North Carolina Music
Educators Conference, the Biltmore Estate and historic Bruton Parish Church in
Williamsburg, VA. Merritt is originally from Noank, Connecticut, but now
resides in San Antonio, TX with his wife, Ellen, and is currently working on a
Master of Music in Choral Conducting under Dr. John Silantien at the University
of Texas at San Antonio.

Children and Youth Minister
Jen Gil graduated in May 2013 from the University of the Incarnate Word with a degree in Biology. As a
swimmer at UIW, she developed a work ethic and discipline that benefits her in
many aspects of her life. She loves children and youth, and is excited about
developing relationships and sharing her love of Jesus with them. Jen has been
one of the key student leaders in Diocese of West Texas’s college program at UIW called The
Fire, and has also served this past summer on staff with Family Camp at Mustang Island.
As Jen begins
her ministry at Holy Spirit, she will focus her energy and time on the youth
ministry and working with Spirit Time, Holy Spirit's worship service for children.

Church Secretary Email Pat Phone Extension 10 Mrs. Pat McCarty is the Church Secretary of the Church of the Holy Spirit. In addition to being the first voice you hear when you call the church, Pat can be seen setting up the altar, singing in the choir, and doing just about anything that needs to be done. Pat and her husband Tom have been members of the Church of the Holy Spirit for about 12 years. When not at church, Pat enjoys spending time with her two dogs, her husband, and any babies that she can spoil!

Keira Quarles grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and attended St. John's Episcopal Church throughout her childhood. She is married to her high school sweetheart, John Quarles, and they have one daughter, Ella. She has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and brings with her membership database management and office experience from as far back as her work study job at KLRU-TV in Austin. Most recently, she worked for 5 years at the University of Florida Office of the University Registrar where she gained more experience as an administrative assistant and with student records management. These days, she enjoys "staying home" with her daughter, being active her mom's group, and serving Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit as the Volunteer Church Administrator.
